Before opening a COME APK forwarded in a message
A forwarded APK is a local file whose original source may be unclear. Check provenance instead of relying on the sender's filename or description.
Ask what can be verified
Identify where the file originally came from, which version it claims to contain and when it was obtained. A message saying “latest” or “working” does not answer those questions. The sender may also be passing along an unreviewed copy.
Prefer a current traceable route
Compare with the current known app-entry page. Do not assume that two files with the same name are identical. Renaming a forwarded item to match a listing does not improve its identity or compatibility.
Keep the phone protected
Leave Play Protect enabled and read Android warnings. Do not remove an installed app to force a forwarded package through an update conflict. If the origin remains uncertain, avoid entering account credentials into it.
A useful next step
Use the current download route when a forwarded file cannot be traced clearly.
